My Little Sis

As a child, I never imagined how important my sister would end up being to me. We grew up in a very unhappy and unstable family. We were not shown love or how to give and receive love. We were not shown how to value ourselves as God values us. We were treated poorly and I am proud to say that we are better people despite and quite possibly because of our upbringing.

My sis and I were not close as kids or even teens. Regretfully, our friendship started after she moved out of state. My little sis has turned into the person I turn to for a shoulder to cry on, a sounding board, a cheer leader, a counseling session (free of charge :) the best kind), and so many other things in my life.

I know that our parents did not try to raise two women who dearly love their families and each other as much as we do, but I hope that we can do as good a job with our children. I also hope that we can succeed in raising our children without having to go through the pain that we had to go through to get these results.

My sister is an amazingly lovable, kind and generous person. She is friendly, patient, sweet and so beautiful (inside AND out)! She inspires me daily to be more, be better and enjoy it all at the same time! She is everything I hope to be and more! I love her for the way she loves my family, her family and how she loves me! God has impacted so many people through her ability to love unconditionally. I thank God today and every day for the gift he gave to me in my little sis!

Rose Colored Glasses Syndrome

We have all been there. In the deaply infatuated stage of a relationship where the other person can do NO wrong. Or when we can somehow assume the blamed for the man that we "love".
I think that the person who finds something to counteract this syndrome will be a billionaire over night! Think about it...parents, friends, teachers, and bosses will all invest in this product without reservation. I can't tell you how many times I have explained to a college aged employee that the guy she is dating isn't in it for the right reasons and that she can do soooo much better! Why is it that young ladies nowadays settle for the current guy and don't look for Mr. Right?
I am not crazy enough to think that Mr. Right is just around the corner. But seriously, can't these girls at least see that Mr. Better is easier to see when they are not with Mr. Present??? I have been motivated to show my step-daughter and daughter that they are worth more than Mr. Present! I am determined to pray daily for each of them to have the confidence and clarity to see through the crap and right to the heart of any man they fall for!
And for you Lisa...I am praying that you gain the clarity to see Mr. Wrong for the man he is and not the man he could be!

My Bright Idea

I came up with this bright idea to throw a cozy little Halloween party at our house with several of our good friends. Problem is, I really need my husband on board because I am working so much and really need his help. I decided that my presentation was essential and I had to time it just right.
Last night the perfect situation just fell in my lap! Yippee! He had a few drinks in him and was with his friend who is all about drinking and partying (esp if there are women there)!!! Everything was going well until they got going on the details!
Picture this...
Two grown men 40+ take over MY PARTY and turn it into a three ring circus! They are discussing decorating the basketball court to be haunted and getting a band??? OMG! I am GOOOOOOD! Problem is, too good! I just wanted a fun night in! lol
MEN! One means trouble around the corner and two means a major problem is brewing! lol
I will definately need to reconsider my approach in the future! : )
I will keep you posted on "2009 Halloween Bash"
Love you all, Desirea

Introducing Me & My Fam

Hi fellow bloggers! Well, my little sis inspired me to use my whits (or lack-thereof) to express myself. Don't ask me why! I am pretty good about telling people how I feel, but most of the time I don't take the time to reflect on how it will be received! lol

I am the wife of a business owner, step-mother of two wonderful children-18 and 15, and mother to a 9 year old. I work with my husband at the family business (I know you will hear more about this...) and spend most of my time away from work crafting or hanging out with my girlfriends. We love to share a bottle (or two depending on how long we are together) of wine while giggling about our kids and husbands.

Well, that is the first of many wonderful stories that I am sure you will get to hear about my life. I hope you enjoy the stories of my crazy life!
